Mandela Day is on 18 July – and this Mandela Day, the Sea Point, Fresnaye & Bantry Bay Ratepayers & Residents Association (SFB) invite you to reflect on Nelson Mandela’s legacy of service and community-building by making a donation or sponsorship, or volunteering your time to support our ongoing efforts. Your contribution can make a tangible difference in the safety, cleanliness, and overall quality of life in our neighborhoods.
Safety and Cleansing Initiatives
One of our primary goals at SFB is to ensure the safety and cleanliness of Sea Point, Fresnaye, and Bantry Bay. Our Safety & Cleansing Initiative (SCI) is a cornerstone of this commitment. We have partnered with Avenue Response to provide enhanced security measures, ensuring that our streets are patrolled and that residents feel secure in their homes and public spaces.
Additionally, our Project Hope Cape Town initiative offers a unique solution to homelessness in our area. This initiative provides former homeless individuals with an opportunity to reintegrate into society by engaging in community clean-up efforts. They earn a stipend while contributing to the maintenance and improvement of our neighborhoods. Through these initiatives, we not only enhance the safety and cleanliness of our community but also offer a second chance to those in need.
Advocacy and Representation
The SFB serves as a vital advocate for residents and ratepayers, representing your interests in discussions with key stakeholders such as the City of Cape Town, the State, and property developers. Our Planning Committee reviews planning applications for both private and public spaces within Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, and parts of Three Anchor Bay. We ensure that developments are in line with the community’s vision and that heritage sites are protected.
Our advocacy efforts extend to heritage protection as well. We work diligently to preserve the historical character of our neighborhoods, advocating for the maintenance and restoration of heritage buildings and sites. By safeguarding our architectural and cultural heritage, we honor the past while building a vibrant future.
Communication and Engagement
Effective communication is crucial in keeping our community informed and engaged. The SFB serves as a liaison between residents and the City, ensuring that your concerns and suggestions are heard. We regularly share relevant information, updates, and news through our website and other communication channels, keeping you informed about important developments and community events.
Our website, sfb.org.za, is a hub for up-to-date community news, events, and resources. Whether it’s information on local initiatives, safety tips, or updates on planning applications, we strive to keep you informed and involved in the life of our neighborhoods.
How You Can Help
This Mandela Day, we urge you to consider making a donation to the SFB. Your support is crucial in enabling us to continue our work and expand our initiatives. Here’s how your donation can make a difference:
